a few words about...
This one matters a lot to me, for many reasons.

First, this is my personal soundtrack for one of my favourite films. The Return (Le Retour in french) is the first movie of Russian director Andrei Zviaguintsev, a true masterpiece telling with a lot a mystery and tension a trip made all together by a father and his two sons, Ivan and Andrei.
The landscapes are wonderful, the story is full of tension and unsaid feelings, the actors are great, especially the youngest boy, and Zviaguintsev's work is amazing. Have a look on it if you can, it deserves your time (to my opinion of course).
As for E.T. (more than for Jurassic Park or Harry Potter), writing music was the best way to express my emotions and and change them in my own way to tell this story.

Secondly, translating the very peculiar atmosphere of the movie in music was a perfect opportunity to make shine the deep and intriguing sounds of Korg X5DR expander, with much control this time than on Visions on the First World.
I also used a new music software that let me have a effective metronom click - the previous software lacked of this essential option - and to be more precise in my musical writing.

I've finally been able to reach a kind of music I wanted to play for a long time. Sensitive, slow, trying to put emotions in the foreground by the main use of piano and strings sounds, but also sound effects - there are extracts from the movie (in french) in a few songs, which was something I wanted to do since... E.T. !

To say it properly, Le Retour sounds absolutely the way I wanted it to sound, even if I improvised each song without having any idea of what I would do before I put my fingers on the keyboard.
That's why I consider it as one of my best works, although it's far from perfect - it suffers from time to time of sound quality problems due to a defective connection wire between the keyboards and the computer.

Le Retour is a journey I can make again and again without getting bored of it, whereas I don't listen to most of my other albums.
It echoes something deep in me, which is the main reason why I write music. Nothing is more important to me as a composer who create for myself before everyone else.
Now, if you want to share and enjoy it, you're most welcome !
