a musical archive

At the beginning there is a dream.

Then come words, that try to capture the dream to process it as a story.

The First World was the title.

I wrote a few pages of this story. I keep them in my basement, knowing now that the story will never become a novel. The dream is gone. Other dreams are born since, filling my mind with other stories that I'm working on, willful to keep them alive and let them a chance to become a real book one day.

It doesn't matter. In a storyteller life, it often happens.

At least The First World found a way to exist.

A few bunch of Visions, which create a fascinating area of music mixing electronic landscapes, dreamful pianos, furious guitars, frantic drums, strange sounds from nowhere and distant voices.

This album allowed me to new experiments. For the first time, I used a new device, Korg X5-DR expander and synthesizer. It gave me fresh electronic sounds and opportunies, very different from what conveyed my previous Yamaha keyboards.

In a way, the Korg get me back to freedom, so I decided to play the game and go all in.

I disdained the comfortable use of sequencers, clicks and note-by-note recordings, and played every single note of this album, including drums and percussions (and you can hear sometimes by some tragic lacks of rhythm that I'm not a great drummer).

Visions From The First World is rich of electrifying inspirations as well as flaws and approximations. Free is its one and only keyword.

Above all, this album gave me the impulse I needed to go back to work with enjoyment and desire. Even if it is far from perfection, you may understand through these words how important this step is in my musical journey.

So, if you dare to, listen to it with mercy for its weaknesses, because these mistakes were born from a beating heart.
