At the beginning of 2025, my dear old friend and fellow composer Fabien Labonde surprised me by revisiting one of my old albums, The Gunslinger, the last one published under the Digital Project brand.

Inspired by the first volume of Stephen King's epic western fantasy saga, The Dark Tower, this album was released unfinished in 1996. Lasting 51 minutes, it only covered half of the book, which itself was only 200 pages long. Too long, too heavy, too loaded, but still filled with quite a few beautiful ideas that probably deserved better than a second-class burial in the cemetery of forgotten music.

Fabien identified these ideas, carefully selected them, and turned them into a single 24-minute piece — half of the original album, from which he truly drew out the best, in a Replay Project by his own that reflects his finesse and intensity. His elegant playing and technical mastery completed the work, finally making this music presentable, and I am now happy to share it.
