Sometimes, being an imaginative teenager leads to very strange ideas.

At 17 I was hugely imaginative.

This is the only reason I can find nowadays to explain the Digital Project. Oh, and my natural inclination to hide behind pseudonyms, too.

What was the Digital Project ?

A split of my musical souls, in a way. Pretending to be five instead of me alone. To be a band, playing and writing music all together.

I've always liked to be alone, but at this time, I think I feared loneliness. I needed probably ideal friends, which was stupid considering I had very good friends...

Furthemore, it was a cool story to tell - that's what I thought then.

That being said, it's still a matter of music.

I tried to give to my four avatars a musical personality, that impacted the style of each song, depending on who was involved in its writing.

A large part of my musical work is about childhood. What it is to be a child, then to become a teenager, to deal with friendship, love, adulthood. The fear to lose innocence, casualness, to deny his dreams and hopes.

It was logical then to choose Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) as a subject for the debut album of Digital. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's novel is a moving and magical masterpiece about childhood and all that matters where you're a kid.

Musically, Petit Prince is quite fresh and bright - well, for its best songs. Some are too naive ("the kid and the fox", "little song") or heavy ("bleu"), and the lot would need some work on orchestration and performance.

I've been thinking for a while that this album could be remade in a better way. So it should appear one day in my Replay Project list.
